Meet the Carlyles

I love Scandinavian design – so much! And much to my delight, I'm currently designing a space for a lovely family who is in need of a major renovation.

There are a lot of things to rejoice over concerning this project, but the one aspect that makes my heart thump extra fast is their shared love of all things Scandinavian – namely the design aesthetic that originates from the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.

The plan is to utilize simple, clean lines and silhouettes while incorporating interest though texture and greenery. We'll keep the palette soft and serene with pale blues, ivories, and hues of chestnut.

The Carlyles – John and Susan – reside in Greensboro, NC, with two fur babies. They are expecting their first child within a few months, so to say they're very brave is an understatement. I mean, who would intentionally start a major reno with a wee one on the way? Did I mention that they're very, very brave?!?

The scope of this project is not small. John and Susan have requested that the home be updated in a way that will allow them to age in place, accommodate a growing family through additions (bedroom, laundry, master bath, garage), provide a work-at-home office space, AND incorporate their preferred design aesthetic into a traditional home.

No biggie, right?

Right! And I'm up for the challenge. I put together a mood board for the Carlyles to give them a sense of my idea for their home and allow them to provide feedback on the direction I'm planning to take.

So, there you have it. I'm extremely excited to work with this family – delivering a beautiful design plan to create a beautiful home for a beautiful and growing family.
