2018 Trend Alert
Way back in 2010, a little website known as Pinterest made its grand debut. No one could have predicted just how big it would become–or how quickly.
But just a scant eight years later, the design world takes quite seriously the trend report Pinterest releases in anticipation off an upcoming design season. And 2018 is no different.
Pinterest predicts these top 6 design trends for 2018–according to Elle Decor
WALL ART
Pinterest searches for this year increased by 637%! That is a huuuuge increase from this time last year.
So what does that mean for someone updating their space? Maybe you'll feature one large piece of artwork or perhaps a gallery wall makes sense for your space.
Either way, blank walls are out!
PATTERNED PLANTS
People are embracing plants as design in a major way right now.
Not only do
plants provide indoor air purification, they bring vibrancy, color, and texture to a space.
Searches for patterned plants is up 533% from last year.
MIXED METALLICS
This particular trend is sure to make some people pause. There are always those (my husband) who automatically question any design decision that does not embrace a matchy-matchy concept.
Trust me, this is one element that you definitely want to embrace.
Pinners increased the search of mixed metallics by 423% over last year.
TERRAZZO FLOORING
Is this one as shocking to you as it is to me? Terrazzo flooring is apparently making a resurgence to the design scene.
Pins for “terrazzo” were up 316% this year, according to Elle Decor.
Maybe we'll also see more of winged bangs–or nah?
STATEMENT CEILINGS
Keep your face to the sky, and you just may notice another 2018 trend!
There are so many options for upping your
ceiling game–wallpaper, tile, planking, and just regular paint.
No matter your preference, there is an option for everyone, and all the pinners who increased the search by 310% would probably agree.
SPA-INSPIRED BATHROOMS
With pins for this particular feature increasing by 269%, there is no lack of desire for relaxing, private space.
Over the last few years, the concept of vacationing at home has taken off.
And what do we all want from a great vacation? A jetted tub, of course!
What say you–will any of these trends find a place in your home this year?
